1. Allergen information on our menus
Our online menus identify the UK 14 regulated allergens used as ingredients in each listed dish, based on the recipe and ingredient information available when the menu is published.
The 14 regulated allergens are:
- celery
- cereals containing gluten
- crustaceans
- eggs
- fish
- lupin
- milk
- molluscs
- mustard
- peanuts
- sesame
- soybeans
- sulphur dioxide and sulphites
- tree nuts
This information is intended to help customers make informed menu choices before making an enquiry, confirming a booking or selecting dishes.
2. Customer responsibility
Customers are responsible for reviewing the allergen information shown on our menu before confirming menu choices.
If you, or any guest, has an allergy, intolerance, coeliac disease, medical dietary requirement or another food-related requirement, please tell us as early as possible.
For event bookings, the person making the booking is responsible for collecting accurate dietary and allergen information from guests and passing this to us by the agreed deadline.
Please do not rely only on online allergen information where a requirement is severe, where further ingredient detail is needed, or where a guest has a specific dietary or medical concern.
3. How to notify us
Please tell us about allergen or dietary requirements through your usual agreed contact route with us. This may include WhatsApp, telephone, email or messages exchanged during menu planning.
Please provide enough information for us to assess the request properly. This may include:
- the guest’s name or event reference
- the specific allergen, intolerance or dietary requirement
- the dishes being considered, where known
- what must be avoided
- any other information that may help us assess the request safely
Where a requirement is discussed by telephone, we may confirm the details back to you by WhatsApp, email, booking notes or another written message to make sure the information has been recorded correctly.
4. Confirmation of dietary and allergen arrangements
A dietary or allergen request is only treated as confirmed once CoChilli Events & Caterers has confirmed the agreed arrangement in writing, including by WhatsApp where appropriate.
Following our review, we may confirm that:
- the request can be accommodated
- the request can be accommodated with an agreed menu change
- further information is needed
- we cannot safely accommodate the request
Where we agree an arrangement, we will take reasonable care to follow the agreed menu and service plan.
If dietary or allergen details change after booking, you must tell us immediately. Late changes may not always be possible to accommodate.
5. Cross-contact and shared preparation environments
Our food is prepared in a busy working kitchen where ingredients containing allergens are regularly stored, prepared and cooked.
We take reasonable care in food preparation, storage, handling and service. However, allergen cross-contact may occur, and we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from any allergen, including where that allergen is not listed as an intended ingredient.
Customers and guests with severe allergies, anaphylaxis risk, coeliac disease or another serious dietary requirement should speak to us before confirming menu choices. We will review the request and explain what information or practical adjustments may be possible, but we may decide that we cannot safely accommodate the request.
Where we confirm an allergen or dietary arrangement, this means we have considered the stated requirement and agreed an appropriate menu or service approach. It does not mean that our kitchen is allergen-free or that trace cross-contact can be eliminated.
6. Recipe, supplier and menu changes
Ingredients, supplier specifications and recipes can occasionally change. Menu presentation, garnishes and ingredients may also vary due to availability or operational requirements.
Where a confirmed dietary or allergen arrangement could be affected by a material change, we will take reasonable steps to contact the booking customer and discuss a suitable option.
The allergen information available at the time of the event, based on the final recipe and ingredients used, takes priority over earlier menu descriptions or informal discussions.
7. Halal, non-halal, vegetarian, vegan and other dietary preferences
We can provide halal or non-halal versions of meat dishes, subject to the agreed menu, availability and event requirements.
Unless you specifically request non-halal meat, we normally use halal meat as the default for applicable dishes. Pork items are non-halal.
Where both halal and non-halal versions of the same meat dish are requested for one event, this may require separate sourcing, preparation, handling, labelling, equipment or service arrangements.
An additional charge may apply where this creates extra work or cost. This is assessed case by case, taking account of the event value, menu, guest numbers and practical arrangements required. Any additional charge will be confirmed in the quotation before the menu or booking is finalised.
Where halal status is important for an event, please raise this during menu planning and we will confirm the agreed arrangement in writing. Unless expressly stated otherwise, we do not represent the entire kitchen, catering operation or event service as halal-certified.
Vegetarian, vegan, cultural, religious and other dietary preferences should also be discussed during menu planning and confirmed before the agreed deadline.
A dish described as halal, non-halal, vegetarian or vegan is not automatically suitable for a guest with an allergy, intolerance, coeliac disease or medical dietary requirement. Customers must still review allergen information and notify us of any individual requirement.
8. Food supplied by others
This policy applies only to food prepared and supplied by CoChilli Events & Caterers.
We cannot accept responsibility for allergens, ingredients, cross-contact or food-safety risks arising from:
- food or drinks supplied by the venue
- cakes, desserts or food supplied by guests
- third-party suppliers
- food brought onto the premises by another person
- changes made after our food has been handed over or served
9. Concerns during the event
If you have an allergen or dietary concern during an event, please speak to a member of the CoChilli Events & Caterers team immediately.
Do not rely on assumptions about a dish. Ask before eating it.
If someone experiences a severe allergic reaction or another medical emergency, call emergency services immediately.
10. Contact us
For allergen or dietary requirement queries, please use your usual agreed contact route with us, or the details shown in your quotation, booking confirmation or invoice.
Please provide the information before confirming your booking or by the stated deadline.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time.
The version in force when your booking is confirmed will apply to that booking.
